For many years I worked for America Online in security. We had to police the chatrooms and boards for people who would be depressed and announced they intended to commit suicide. Luckily we never lost anyone and attentitive eyes and responsible management led to this success. I do recall one incident when while working on one of the paranormal forums a fellow told me about his group of friends he’d not heard of. We chatted for a while and lo and behold suddenly they were on tv. They were called Heaven’s Gate. I had kept this chap on the line and the horror story of that cult came to. When you encounter anyone making a suicide claim you should immediately inform the authorities. If you can find the location of the person and notify their local law enforcement agency. Every moment counts.
